Are you feeling overstressed and burnt out? Welcome to the tribe! We are all overworked and stressed out, and all the while, we’re overusing technology and trying to keep up with everyone else’s seemingly perfect lives… And yet, people are also more in tune with wellness than previous generations.

Maybe it’s a double-edged sword: the pressures of society and life in the digital age are also making us take steps to take better care of ourselves. Hopefully, these trends of self-care and conscientious living will continue – I certainly think they will!
So, with that in mind, I’ve put together some predictions for 2019’s health trends:

  • Brain Health:

Poor sleep, unhealthy diet, alcohol, excessive technology use… All of these threaten our brains on a daily basis. As we become more aware of the adverse effects our lifestyles – and maybe the biggest issue, how we use our smartphones – affect our brain health, people of all kinds are trying to fight back!

More research on brain health is being done everyday, and we can all learn about how diet, habits, self control, gut health, and more affect our brains!

  • Hemp-Based Products:

With the Hemp Farming Act of 2018, hemp is no longer classified as marijuana – and can be legally grown throughout the country like any other agricultural commodity! While hemp-based products have been popular for a while now, especially as people become more familiar with the health benefits – and the numerous other uses.

I think we’ll only see more of these kinds of products – everything from oils to fabrics, protein powder to beverages, and people simply eating hemp seeds.

People throughout society are coming to understand how healthy many of these hemp-based products are, and as regulations change to reflect that, it’s likely that the sale and use of such products will be one of the biggest health trends of 2019.

  • Crystal Resurgence:

Not much research has been done on the science of healing crystals – but people the world over use them to promote relaxation, health, concentration, and so on. Popularity has dipped some in recent years, but the way people seem to be gravitating toward helping themselves and building lifestyles of health and wellness, I wouldn’t be surprised to see crystal use make a big comeback.

  • Intuitive Eating:

A relatively new concept, the idea of “intuitive eating” is all about developing a healthy, holistic relationship with food. It’s a wonderful idea, and goes right along with so many of the things I teach!

It’s all about coming to terms with your emotions related to food, identifying and examining your own habits, and making choices that are good for your mind and body – instead of making choices based on guilt, trends, or anything else of the sort.

You can learn more about this concept here, and I highly recommend checking out the 10 Principles of Intuitive Eating.

I’m hoping that this catches on in bigger and bigger ways, because we could all stand to build a healthier relationship with food, how we eat, and our overall approach to wellness!

  • Eco-Consciousness:

I love that people are becoming more and more conscious about the health of the planet! With moves to get rid of single use straws, more and more shops encouraging people to bring their own bags, the rise of “package free” stores, and so on, all kinds of people are taking large and small steps to help protect the environment.

I think these trends will only continue as people become more educated on the topic, embrace the difference they can make, and maybe most importantly, as big retailers and other businesses steer people in this eco-friendly direction!

For eco-conscious beverage drinking, I recommend sustainable bottles and cups from Joco, which are 100% BPA and plastic free!

Who knows what the New Year will bring, but I predict that people will continue to take better care of themselves, the people around them, and the planet we share! I’d love to hear about your predictions, resolutions, and plans for the year to come.

Let’s make 2019 a healthy, wonderful year!

Sending love and light,
