NL Chocolate Protein Donuts

Who knew something this delicious could be healthy? By using ingredients like almond flour and natural sugars, as well as flax seed and protein powder, you can make a tasty sweet treat without give your body the sugar-shock that other donuts bring with them. This recipe makes enough to share!

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. Coconut Oil, softened
  • 2 Tbsp. Almond Butter
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla extract
  • 2 Tbsp. Applesauce
  • 1 Tbsp. Coconut Milk
  • 1 Tbsp. Pumpkin Seed Protein (or your favorite protein powder)
  • 5 Tbsp. Cocoa Powder
  • ½ cup Almond Flour
  • ½ Tbsp. Ground Flaxseed
  • ⅛ tsp. Salt
  • ½ tsp. Baking Powder
  • ¼ tsp. Baking Soda
  • 3.5 Tbsp. Coconut Sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • FROSTING
  • 1 Tbsp. Coconut Butter
  • 3 Tbsp. Dark Chocolate/Chips

Directions

  • Step 1

    Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Whisk together all of the wet ingredients together and set aside. Mix together all of the dry ingredients and slowly pour the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and stir until until combined.

    Lightly grease your favorite mini-doughnut pan with a very small amount of coconut oil. Fill the wells until they are a little more than ¾ of the way full. Bake for 11-12 minutes and remove from the oven. Allow the doughnuts to fully cool before trying to remove them from the pan.

  • Gently melt the coconut butter and chocolate together in a microwave-safe bowl. Carefully dip the tops of the doughnuts in the chocolate. Top with your favorite crushed nuts, cocoa powder or coarse sea salt.
