Nourishing Labs provides individualized, simple and phased nutritional advice and support, using the latest research and the principles of eating whole foods, to women and their families, in a non-judgmental and empathetic way, to help them make lasting changes to lead more balanced, active and vibrant lives.

 Why I am different as a nutritional consultant:

  • I have both a classic and holistic education in nutrition that allows me to combine the two to achieve optimal outcomes.
  • I am empathetic to the journey and challenges having been on my own roller coaster of poor diet choices over the years. I used nutrition to help address my own illnesses, IBS and Hashimoto’s and help two of my children deal with life-threatening injuries.
  • I have invested the time to develop a program designed for families that is compassionate and sensitive to your families goals.

I offer a wide range of nutritional services that include one-on-one sessions that progress according to your comfort level and pace and needs. You can meet with me if you are looking for one session for inspiration or if you want a more customized package of ten sessions that can address:

I always start with session 1 focusing on getting to know you and your health history and current health concerns. It is not about eating less and exercising more but about incorporating nutrient dense foods into your daily regime. A typical initial session looks something like this:

Session 1: It’s All About You

Good nutritional advice starts with understanding you.

  1. What are your personal health goals?
  2. What is your lifestyle?
  3. What are your energy and stress levels like?
  4. What is your and your family’s medical history?
  5. What is your current diet like? Exercise?
  6. How much time do you have to cook?
  7. Do you enjoy cooking?  What are your favorite foods?
  8. What do your kids eat?
  9. Are there concerns you have about your children’s health?
  10. Are you the type of person that likes to change quickly or slowly?

What you will get out of Session 1:

  1. Clear articulation of your health goals and baseline
  2. Health Diary
  3. 1-3 personalized recommendations to take home with you.
  4. Build effective strategies for optimum health and wellness that are personalized for you.

From here we then develop and strategize a plan for you wellness journey.

Session 2: Optimize digestive health

Now that we have addressed and assessed your lifestyle and your goals, we can now address your digestive health. This can take a few sessions as the digestive system is very complex and patience is required to dig deeper in understanding when the symptoms began and how they have evolved over time. Sometimes there are a few different triggers that result in a myriad of manifestations. This is the fun investigative part for me as I enjoy the complexities of how the body can heal itself given the correct protocol.

  1. Address and discern what foods may be leading to digestive distress.
  2. What antibiotics have you taken in the past?
  3. How have you been managing your symptoms?
  4. Do you feel relief at any point?
  5. When are the symptoms worse? Better?
  6. Have you tried to remove any trigger foods?
  7. Have you been tested for any food sensitivities?

What you will get from Session 2:

  1. 1-3 personalized recommendations specifically for digestive distress
  2. Healing recipes to support digestive health
  3. Engage in a dialogue that will set goals for addressing health concerns.

Session 3: Skin Health:

We all experience the shifting of hormones in our teenage years but then we re-experience them when our hormones shift again later in life. There are many factors that contribute to the shift: age, genetics, exposures to toxins and diet to name a few. So how do we manage these hormone shifts? Applying topical creams can help temporarily but finding the root cause is like finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow for lack of a better analogy. Many times the root cause is inflammation of the gut.

  1. What foods do you crave on a regular basis?
  2. Do you experience any digestion issues?
  3. Do you have any known allergies?
  4. How do you manage the allergic symptoms?
  5. Do you incorporate veggies and fruits into your daily meals?
  6. What products are you currently using on your skin?

  2. Healing recipes to support skin health
  3. Engage in a dialogue that will set goals to address the root causes of your health concerns.

Session 4: Repair the Gut:

If we have a history of taking antibiotics, eating junk food or compromised immune systems this can contribute to a gut that is in need of some tender, loving care. Breakouts, eczema and arthritis are symptoms of a distressed gut. Often times, dairy, lactose and gluten are the major triggers in causing inflammation in the gut that can lead to breakouts on the skin. The skin is the largest organ in the body and whatever is happening with our skin is a sign of what is going on inside of our body as well.

  1. How long have the symptoms persisted?
  2. Have the symptoms increased or decreased over time?
  3. Are there foods that feel more soothing than others?
  4. Are there foods that you cannot tolerate at all?
  5. How long do the symptoms persist?
